Located in Brenham, Texas, and originally built in 1899 – 1900. to house a grocery and feed store on the ground level with an elegant saloon upstairs, the building was completely renovated and updated prior to the current owners taking over in 2011.

The Inn’s layout, grounds, and location provides a lovely backdrop for weddings and events. The Ballroom is perfectly set up for catering (there are many local providers) and has hosted many local business conferences as well as receptions and local festivals.

The town of Brenham is almost exactly halfway between the major metropolitan areas of Houston and Austin, Texas. The Virginia May in Eagle Mountain Lake Texas

The Virginia May B&B and main house sits on a 1/2 acre lot at Eagle Mountain Lake, Texas, on a lovely and quiet street called Randle Ln. The area boasts hundreds of oak trees, and a herd of deer we have all adopted. The property is located 25 minutes both from the Fort Worth Stockyards to the north, and Texas Motor Speedway to the east. There are a total of 13 homes on the street, and there has never been a more welcoming group of neighbors.

The 1971 three bedroom, 2100 sq. foot main ranch house had an extensive renovation in 2020, with completion in 2021. Internally this included all new wiring, plumbing, flooring, paint, and propane for the 6 burner Zline stove and gas fitted outdoor BBQ. New cabinetry, new ceiling and beams, all new lighting, as well as clawfoot tub in master bathroom, and walk in shower in guest bath. Shiplap is throughout the house.

The kitchen is an absolutely delightful space to work in. I have arranged cooking lessons for ladies, date night and groups, paint nights, private dinners, Italian Night– and there is plenty of room for all of these events.

Externally, re-painted, new windows, new septic system for house and cottages, sprinkler system, all cast iron pipes under home have been replaced November 2024, and a new HVAC central air system replaced October 2024. The chimney was cleaned and repaired in 2021, and a crushed rock pathway directly from the main house to the cottages was added in 2023.

Two private cottages, a one bedroom 360 sq feet, and a 2 bedroom, 560 sq feet were built on the adjacent property (11687 Randle Ln) the fall of 2021, and completed and open for guests May 2022. Guests have a large shared area in front of the cottages with picnic table and firepit, as well as porches to sit on and deer watch. Many spring and early summer guests have enjoyed picking vegetables from the garden located between the house and cottages. Each cottage has been tastefully decorated, each with a kitchen area used for guests who want to cook afternoon and evening meals. This has also been a wonderful addition for guests who have booked longer stays.

While some guests want to come and chat over breakfast inside the main home, most prefer the delivery out to the cottages, and I have been happy to accommodate either.

Lake View Marina is a mere 2 minute drive, where many use the boat launch in the summer months. Sammy’s Bar is a local favorite and has been a good friend to promote The Virginia May. Eagle Mountain Park is also a 2 minute drive up the hill for the thousands of hikers who visit each year.

The Virginia May has steady year round business with the lake activity in the summer months, a partnership with Eagle Mountain International Church, and two neighboring subdivisions who exclusively use the cottages for their out of town guests if available.

Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD is a highly recommended school division for those potential buyers who may have children.

Stardust Retreat in Coleman Texas

Stardust Retreat is an authentic Mid-Century Modern vacation rental in Coleman, Texas.
