5 Things to Add To Your Texas Summer Bucket List

Summer is coming to an end and we at the Texas Bed and Breakfast Association want to help you make some sweet memories with the fam before the kiddos head back to school.
1. Blue Hole, 333 Blue Hole Ln., Wimberley, 512-660-9111
Blue Hole Regional Park is a natural, spring-fed swimming hole lined with the iconic Cypress Trees located deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. The whole family will enjoy swimming in crystal clear water, sunbathing on the grassy swim lawn, and of course, swinging on our famous rope swings. Reservations for swimming are required. Check their Facebook page for details about movie night in the park. Wimberley is also home to the beautiful and brisk Jacob’s Well which is the second largest fully submerged cave in Texas and is an artesian spring which stays at a chilly 68 degrees.

2. Balmorhea Spring-Fed Pool, 9207 TX-17, Toyahvale (near Fort Davis and Alpine), 432-375-2370
The world’s largest spring fed swimming pool with crystal clear water and home to endangered fish. Reservations recommended.

3. Devil’s Waterhole, Inks Lake State Park, 3630 Park Road 4 W.,Burnet, 512-793-2223
A seemingly bottomless pool on Inks Lake provides a soothing escape from these hotter than heck temps.
Where to stay:
Yellow House Bed and Breakfast, 2290 FM 2268, Salado, 254-444-0404. “Take off your shoes, and wade in Salado Creek.” About an hour from Burnet.
San Gabriel House bed and breakfast, 1008 E. University Ave., Georgetown, 512-930-0070. About an hour from Burnet. But Georgetown also has their own swimming hole, Blue Hole Park on the South San Gabriel River.
4. Barton Springs Pool, 2131 William Barton Dr., Austin, 512-974-6300
The pool is located in the popular Zilker Park area. It measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees (Brrrr!), ideal for year-round swimming.
Where to stay:
Mt. Gainor Inn, 2390 Prochnow Road, Dripping Springs, 512.858.0982. Located about 45 minutes from Barton Springs Pool. The inn is also close to the stunning Hamilton Pool which is a “reservations required” pool and Blanco State Park.
5. Blanco State Park, 101 Park Road 23, Blanco, 830-833-4333
Swim anywhere along the spring fed Blanco River. Small children will enjoy the shallow wading pool next to Falls Dam. Rent tubes at the park store from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; return tubes by 4 p.m.
