The Texas Bed and Breakfast Association has created the Wine and Beer Lovers Trail.
As part of our continued dedication to helping travelers find the best bed and breakfasts in areas that are interesting and exciting….this post is for the wine (and beer) lovers!
We mentioned in an earlier blog post that Texas has over 400 wineries. The TBBA website currently lists 33 BnB’s under “Wine and Brewery Trails” and “Wineries/Wine Tasting” together. Now, we can’t mention all of them here so we’ve collaborated with the inns and put together a small list of those that have either mentioned that they’re interested in being featured or we believe are a good fit.
This post will educate you on the who, what and where of everything wine (and beer)! So grab your designated driver and let’s hit the trail!
We’ll start in what the TBBA refers to as the Panhandle (otherwise known as the South Plains) region.
The Panhandle or South Plains regions of Texas (also known in the wine biz as the Texas High Plains Viticultural Area) is home to some of the biggest grape growers in the country. Grape growers in and around Lubbock have bragging rights for producing 80% of the state’s wine grapes, according to an article by Lubbock Online. Wineries and tasting rooms are popping up all over.
The Woodrow House in Lubbock is owned and operated by David and Dawn Fleming since 1995.
David is officially in the viticulture business. He has about 1200 grapevines in several small vineyards around Lubbock. David and Dawn started making their own wine in 2020 and hope to be able to expand soon. David and Dawn are ready to help plan a fun vino adventure for y’all. Next stop: the heart of Texas or what the TBBA refers to as the Central Texas region and the Hill Country.

Central Region:
7F Lodge is located just minutes away from some of the most popular wineries and distilleries in the region (and the state!) and Lisa will be more than happy to sign you up for their “Love The Wine You’re With” package.
Hill Country Region:
Behr House in Fredericksburg is known for being the first B & B guest house in Fredericksburg! Shelley will be very happy to assist you with a “Wine and Charcuterie” package.
Mt.Gainor Inn is close to numerous wineries and your hosts, Laurie and Jerry, will be happy to pack you a picnic lunch that includes a bottle of complimentary wine.

In the North Texas region:
Rosen House Inn in Fort Worth, “Located near the eclectic Southside District, one of Fort Worth’s hippest “restaurant rows” with open air dining, patio options, live music, distilleries, breweries and, streateries- all within walking distance.”

The Virginia May is an Eagle Mountain Lake BnB which is very close to Grapevine (Grapefest) and be sure and ask Colleen to “Upgrade Your Stay” with a picnic basket that might include a nice bottle of something tasty.
When speaking of the North Texas region and wine… one must mention Grapefest in Grapevine. Grapefest is one of the largest and most popular wine festivals in Texas.
In the West and South Regions:
Sharon at Alpine Bed and Breakfast is excited to announce their newly opened sister business Alpine Wine in downtown Alpine Texas
The Arbor House Suites is located in downtown San Antonio and has mentioned interest in participating in brewery/wine trails. Shawn and Pie will be happy to assist you with “wining”down. They are within walking distance to the following thirst quenching spots:
